Each piece is individually hand-built, sculpted and glazed by the artist over a careful three-week process, so no two will ever be exactly the same. The softly rippled rim and organic silhouette are shaped entirely by hand, then left to dry naturally before the first firing. After that, the interior is painted one by one with a pool of luminous blue glaze that evokes water or a tiny lagoon. A final high-temperature firing fixes the color, brings out subtle crackle textures in the glaze, and strengthens the clay body so it is durable for everyday use.
Designed as a versatile object for slow living rituals, this piece works beautifully as an incense holder, tealight candle holder or small trinket dish. The small white ceramic bead in the center is included as a complimentary accessory: simply place it over the glazed area and insert your incense stick to keep it upright while ash falls neatly into the dish. For a different mood, you can rest a tealight or small votive candle in the center and let the flame reflect off the blue glaze like light on water. On a bedside table, vanity or entryway, it also serves as a poetic resting place for rings, earrings or other small treasures.
Every step of the making is done slowly and intentionally by the designer—from the initial hand-forming of the clay to the final inspection out of the kiln. Slight variations in shape, speckling and glaze depth are part of its charm and proof of its fully handmade nature. The result is a tactile, wabi-sabi inspired ceramic piece that brings a quiet, coastal calm to any corner of your home.
